The guide, funded through a grant from The Boeing Company, ties artworks from the collection to pre-visit, inmuseum, and post-visit lessons that address the TEKS in each discipline.
The guide also includes images of the artworks for reference and a link to the Kress Foundation website. This resource will be mailed to recipients of Boeing bus scholarships and will be available online to all educators.
The calendar can be accessed from any computer at any time by all docents. This is part of a general initiative to create more opportunities for our docents to function as a team and to utilize new technologies.
They will also be working together to develop tours that clearly address the interdisciplinary curriculum needs of the school groups, and incorporate interactive elements such as fabrics and paint samples that represent the textures in an artwork, or movement and sound that help interpret a painting.
Currently, the program serves third graders from Lamar Elementary School and fourth graders from Aoy Elementary School.
Students in the program visit the EPMA eight times during the school year. They take concepts they learn in the galleries and apply them to their own artwork in the studios.
Lessons are designed to complement classroom curricula and incorporate concepts students are learning at their school. The season began in September and is the 16th year of the program.
Thanks to the generosity of the Moor and Wilma D. Moleen Foundations, the EPMA provided each student with a personalized sketchbook to record their gallery activities.
Grant Awarded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation The Samuel H. The two-year project begins in summer and enables the museum to offer several paid internships to college age students skilled in animation.

Artworks that lend themselves to storytelling have been chosen, including pieces by Canaletto, Strozzi, Van Dyck and others.
Schools scheduled to visit the museum will receive a link to the animations in pre-visit materials, and the videos will be linked to QR codes on the object labels in the galleries.
Over the last 6 months the Museum has seen an increase of new members through these efforts. We are gearing up for another wave of mailings this coming spring.
